At the beginning of January, warm clothes were purchased and given to children, thanks to your donations.
Over $6500 was raised to purchase warm clothes by our donors. Following is report from Vian Ahmed, Country Director of The Lotus Flower:
Winter Support providing warm clothing for children in camps
Vian Ahmed, Country Director, The Lotus Flower
“It’s been really cold and wet in Kurdistan recently, so we’re very thankful to our partners at Zarok NGO and Operation Hope Australia whose support has meant we’ve been able to distribute items of winter clothing to more than 1,500 children.
Most of us take items like warm coats, socks and hats for granted, but for displaced families they’re a luxury, and often out of reach when they’re also struggling to afford the food and medicines they need. This year, we’ve been targeting youngsters in Domiz 2, Gawilan, Essyan and Rwanga camps, as well as host communities in Khanke and Sharya. We’re so glad to be able to make conditions just a little bit more manageable for many this winter.”
Many THANKS to our donors – whether through financial assistance or through purchases at our online shop. Your support is truly appreciated.
Below are photos of the children receiving their new clothes. Enjoy.
